There’s a lot happening in the OpenBVE community this month! The website has just received a wave of new features designed to make it more interactive, community-driven, and easier to use. From rating and commenting on news posts to a redesigned downloads page — plus a new search bar that helps you find exactly what you need — there’s plenty to explore.
One of the most useful new additions is the site-wide search bar, which now lets you search through both news articles and downloads!
Looking for a specific development update, an older announcement, or a particular train or route file? Just type a few words into the search bar, and results will appear instantly.
This feature makes it easier than ever to explore OpenBVE’s growing content library — whether you’re catching up on recent posts or hunting down your favorite add-ons.
Ever read a news post and thought, “That was super helpful!” — or maybe, “I wish there was more detail”?
Now you can let us know! Each news article now includes a rating system, giving everyone a quick way to share feedback on updates.
Your ratings help guide what kinds of posts we write next — from technical development updates to community stories and route showcases.
For the first time, you can now comment directly on news articles!
This long-requested feature makes it easy to ask questions, share your thoughts, or discuss the latest updates right below each post.
Comments support basic text formatting for links and snippets, helping keep conversations clear and friendly.
We’re really looking forward to hearing what you think — whether it’s feedback, suggestions, or just a quick hello!
The author section at the end of each article has been completely redesigned.
You’ll now see a cleaner layout with author names, profile pictures, and links to other posts or projects.
This update gives proper credit to the people who write, code, and contribute to OpenBVE — and helps you connect more easily with the developers and community members behind each story.
The Downloads page has also received a complete visual refresh!
It’s now cleaner, faster, and easier to navigate — especially on mobile devices.
These updates are all part of our ongoing effort to make the OpenBVE website more modern, accessible, and community-focused. The team is already working on more improvements — including enhanced documentation, contributor highlights, and new tools for developers and content creators.
We hope you enjoy these new features — and don’t forget to try the new search bar, rate this article, and leave a comment to tell us what you think!
